Don't judge a book by it's cover

Spotted this in London and found the picture recently

And loved it all over again. None of the usual distractions: recommendations (of the author's previous book) from someone you like to read; glossy art work; the brand /reputation of the author; or even an intriguing title.

Just the premise in bullet points. Plain packaging. A surprise!

And a no questions asked return policy.

Brilliant.

Attention is borrowed from your future self

Every time you give your attention to something now, you are taking time, energy, and mental clarity away from yourself later. It doesn’t feel like that in the moment. It often feels small. harmless.
