Giving Recognition

Following on from my last leadership post on giving recognition I had several requests on how to recognize someone's contributions, So here are a few pointers

  • Describe the behavior which may or may not include the result - remember you can recognize progress too!

  • Be as specific as possible - offer details of what you've seen and the impact their behaviour had on the people around them

  • Thank them for their work

  • End with an "open" question to understand more about what they did, how they had the idea what they learned etc.

How often do you recognize your team? How often do you hear them recognize each other?
