"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world." Gautama Buddha.
How do you talk to yourself? What is the tone of your inner dialog? Are you a results focused and driven winner? Are you just unlucky and the world and circumstances are to blame for your failures? Either way, you're right. That inner narrative is self fulfilling - so be careful how you talk to yourself. It's a key component of self care and one we can control but only if we pay attention and learn to talk to ourselves more kindly.
How to do that? As you plan your day or week - listen to how you describe what you need to accomplish; when you think of a recent success or failure how are you describing it and your role in events? All of these provide clues into your narrative.
I've been using journaling as another technique. Simply scanning each day's reflections for keywords is a great prompt. But I'd love to know your practices for noticing (and improving) your self talk!
