The Human Upgrade Plan

Becoming more human in an age of AI isn’t accidental. It’s intentional.


1. Upgrade Your Attention

Why: In a world of infinite tabs, pings, and feeds, attention is your most valuable resource.

  • Start your day with 10 minutes of stillness before opening any device

  • Use tools like the Pomodoro technique or time-blocking to reclaim your focus

  • Practice “mono-tasking” once a day (just one thing, no split screens, no multitasking)

2. Upgrade Your Emotional Range

Why: AI may simulate empathy, but it doesn’t feel. You do.

  • Name your emotions regularly, “I’m feeling…” builds both emotional intelligence and vocabulary

  • Use mood check-ins at the start of meetings to normalize humanity in the room

  • Write one gratitude or encouragement message a day (even to yourself)

5. Upgrade Your Reflection Rituals

Why: Without time to digest, we become reaction machines. Reflection is how we grow.

  • End the day by jotting down: “What did I learn today?” or “What surprised me?”

  • Weekly: Reflect on when you were most “yourself”, and when you weren’t

  • Use AI journaling tools (yes!) to help you explore patterns, insights, or blind spot
