Beginners Mindset

I recently asked "When was the last time you did something for the first time?" and I've been reflecting on that as I read more and more about building, extending or deepening your expertise, constantly seeing improvement

But very little do I read about the beginners mindset - about deliberately putting your expertise to one side and starting from a point of "I know nothing".


The Stoics were writing about this long ago


Through my career as a coach, facilitator, leader and sales professional all too often I've found the most senior person in the room - be it by title or tenure - has allowed the voice of curiosity, be drowned out by their knowledge / expertise


We are all on a journey and the lessons we take along the way are unique to each of us, but how can we presume that we have arrived at a point where we know so much that we no longer need to learn?
