Forget blue monday...

June 20th is allegedly the happiest day of the year (unlike Blue Monday which is the saddest)


But why June 20th? (anyone in the Southern hemisphere you can stop reading at this point - this is a hemispheric-centric piece...)


According to this equation

O + (N xS) + Cpm/T + He


Where O stands for being outdoors and outdoor activity, N is connection with nature, which is in full bloom now, S is socialisation with neighbours and friends, Cpm stands for childhood positive memories, T is the mean temperature which is now usually warm, and He is holiday expected


Or put more simply the feeling of optimism on June 20th is caused by the combination of lighter evenings, the prospect of holidays and memories of childhood summers


And if you believe it or not, the jam jar lid at breakfast this morning dropped a hint...
