What's around the corner?

I was out for a run run recently and came to this S bend in the road. I seem to have some interesting realisations when I'm running because I thought that the image was similar to my life / leadership role.

We never do know what's around the corner. We can guess, predict or hope what's coming based on sounds, current conditions and past experience. But they are only educated guesses.

As a leader I looked at the road and reflected there are clear boundaries of what is and isn't on the road. That those boundaries help stick to the road but hinder off road adventure And we all learned that too often we just can't see what's coming!

So how do you contingency plan? Has it changed in the last 12 months?
