Reviewing both my LinkedIn messages and junk mail folder something bothered me. It took me a while to finally notice... but I have noticed too many of them


The use of the word "I". Messages or emails that start with


  • I hope you are well

  • I wanted to reach out today as...

  • I am sure you can agree that

  • I think it would be of benefit for you to see our complimentary demonstration online

A recent example of the genre

What do you think it says to a prospect? I know you can't remove the word altogether, but how do you phrase the message to be about your prospect or customer? How do you make the message about them before you? Beginning each sentence with "I..." is a put off
